Sacroiliac Compression Test

The Sacroiliac Compression Test is used to detect sacroiliac joint involvement. This test is also referred to as the Side-Lying Iliac Compression Test and the Approximation Test.

Perform this test with the patient in the side-lying position by placing both hands over the lateral ilium and apply vertical pressure directly toward the table. This test is considered positive if it produces pain in the region of either sacroiliac joint.
